Q&A with Angela Doherty, our new EVP of Client Management

The Insurance Partners recently welcomed a new team leader with 25 years of benefits and leadership experience. Angela Doherty is our new Executive Vice President of Client Management. Read more about Angela’s background, and why we’re excited to have her on the team here.

Q. Welcome to The Insurance Partners, Angela. With this new gig, what are you most excited about?

This is an exciting time to be at The Insurance Partners because we are in a growth and innovation phase of the business. We are expanding our reach in-market using our industry-leading expertise in executive disability and broadening our scope to become a full-service solution for all executive benefits needs.

Q. What opportunities do you see?

We are in the era of the “great resignation”. It is more important than ever to recruit, reward and retain top talent in an organization. We can help brokers and clients think beyond traditional benefits and provide a full solution that protects their key employee’s and the companies’ best interests.

Q. What have been some of your biggest successes for clients?

I always consider it a success with clients when we can have discussions and uncover their challenges and what is important to them and their company. We are in a business of providing options and solutions to fit the needs of companies and their greatest assets, their employees. There is no one size fits all situation. When we can have open discussions and educate people so they can make an informed decision and then make that implementation and service process easy – that is success!

Q. Why are you passionate about what you do?

Not many elementary kids on career day say, “I want to grow up to work in insurance.” But, I have found it to be very rewarding. At the heart of what we do, the end game of it all, is to connect people to benefits that provide a sense of security and take away a little bit of worry during the most stressful and scary times of their lives.

I watched how my dad’s long-term care and life policy eased a little of my parent’s burden. I witnessed my sister’s disability and individual term life policy help support her family through her cancer and after her passing.

When loved ones are suffering and need our support – our focus should be on them, not how to make ends meet.

Q. What strengths are you bringing to The Insurance Partners?

I have almost 25 years of benefits and leadership experience and understand the dynamics of customer needs. I enjoy problem solving and can navigate the inner workings and various departments of carriers. Throughout my career, I have led teams in all areas of operations and strategic relationship management, and I get a lot of satisfaction in advocating for and developing others to help individuals and businesses grow and succeed.

Q. Why do you want clients to succeed?

Clients have more challenges to navigate than ever before as we continue to find our way through the pandemic. Developing a strong culture centered around employee engagement and support is just as important to their success as having a clear design of their business fundamentals. Inclusion, diversity, and strong benefits all play a key factor to protect their investment. We can play a small part in helping them develop benefits that illustrate their commitment to their team.

Q. What are you passionate about outside of work?

I have been married for 26 years and my husband and I have always been very involved in our kids’ activities like baseball and scouting. Now that they are grown, we enjoy watching our oldest son compete in baseball for the Benedictine Ravens and traveling to K-State to visit our youngest son.

I am a big fan of any outdoor activities – especially at the lake or in the mountains. I love to Jazzercise! I come from a big family and that is the most important thing to me – any chance to be together is time well spent.

Q. What’s different about The Insurance Partners?

Our consultants are experts at executive benefits and 100% of their focus is finding the best solution for our broker and customer partners.  We offer completely unbiased recommendations and educate on options available.

Our Case and Account Managers are the best in the business at managing the enrollment and implementation activities and supporting our clients once their policies are in place. We are proactive in our annual reviews to ensure benefits evolve and continue to meet needs and we manage all aspects of the account to make it easy on our customers.
